Exercise at any stage in life is important, whether you’re still a teenager, 5 months pregnant, or already through menopause. However, when life gets busy, exercise and fitness seem to the first things that get pushed to the wayside. It takes planning and encouragement to keep a regular routine.
One of the best ways to stay on top of your exercise is to engage with the community around you! The Gainesville and Lake City area offers some wonderful opportunities to plan ahead and exercise with friends and neighbors in your community from all stages of life.
For starters, check out these two walk/run events in the Gainesville area:
Five Points of Life Race Weekend – February 20th & 21st
On Saturday, February 20, the 5 Points 5K starts at 8:00 AM, followed by the Kids Marathon at 9:15 AM. Kids – kindergarten through 8th grade – will run or walk 25 miles prior to race day and record each mile on the log sheet. They’ll run the last 1.2 miles on race day, completing a full marathon. If you’re looking for a shorter distance, the 5K is perfect…or it could be nice warm up for the Marathon and Half Marathon beginning Sunday, February 21, at 7:00 AM.
Run for Haven 2016 – March 12th
This run, beginning in the Tioga Town Center, will feature a 5K and 10K run/walk beginning at 4:30 PM, followed by a St. Patrick’s Day-themed party afterwards. Come run decked out in your green gear or just come for the fun!
Register and start training now for these upcoming community events. If you don’t want to do it alone, grab a group of friends and get moving! Whether you’re walking or running, exercise at any stage of life is important.
