With Breast Cancer Awareness Month now behind us, our physicians and staff would like to applaud a group of local high school students that are working in a big way every year to rally for the survivors and fighters of breast cancer.
All About Women is proud to sponsor the Eastside Striders, a group of Eastside High School students who are in their 4th year of raising money for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk held each year in Gainesville and in over 200 other communities across the United States.
The Gainesville walk currently has 166 participating teams that have collectively raised over $48,000 for the American Cancer Society. The Eastside Striders are one of the top three fundraising teams.
Additionally, the Striders just hosted their annual Survivors Brunch, an event for around 75 breast cancer survivors, for which the students manage everything from raising funds to printing out invitations for the event.
Our women’s health team is proud to help support such motivated youth, as we look for ways to help raise awareness for such important women’s health issues as breast cancer. We also would like to take a moment to encourage and welcome the wonderful women of Gainesville, Lake City and northern Florida to take advantage of our mammogram screening.
If you want to join All About Women in sponsoring the Eastside Striders in their efforts against breast cancer, visit their team page to make a financial contribution. Why not make a point to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K (3.1 mile) walk or find other ways to join in the cause next October, too!
